  • The concrete and brick building complex is massed along a ridgeline with a building footprint adjusted around geological features and mature trees to form quarry-tiled courtyards and view corridors along its alignment. A land bridge dramatically oversails a roadway cut through the sandstone ridge, and overflow vehicle parking and the transport exchange have been placed well clear of sight lines. The scale of the hall’s interior architecture is calibrated to the mass of the buildings. Excerpt from Michael Bogle’s article in: SOS Brutalism: A Global Survey. Catalog DAM + Wüstenrot Foundation, Zurich (Park Books) 2017

  • The situation with Kuring-Gai is stable although the University of Technology moved out in 2015 and the complex will be "re-purposed" for another education function. There was a major campaign to protect the complex amongst the architecture and design community.
