-
An excellent example of the utopian socialist buildings of former Tito-Yugoslavia, far from the boring and uninspired socialist prefab-building of the late 1980's.
The Department store forms a complete center with piazza and different urban situations

The Izbor Department Store building is in use, but in a rather run-down condition.
It is now owned by private investors, which has resulted in several conversions and minor adjustments in the past, but without any major impact on the original design. The “Izbor” chain has experienced economic difficulties in recent years, which has also affected business operations in the building to a certain extent. There are currently no known plans to demolish the building, but no specific measures have been taken to renovate and maintain the original architecture. The building is therefore still classified as endangered (last updated on November 11, 2024).
