  • Wulfen, Germany, Show on map
  • #RES #Western Europe
  • Designed as an experimental residential complex with dynamic floor plans, the building consists of 40 condominiums grouped around an open inner courtyard. Sliding walls allowed users to change the layout of the apartments. Another special feature was the fold-out balconies (Gelsenkirchen balcony).

  • The interesting building ultimately failed due to its execution. The flexible construction elements led to structural and physical defects. Insufficient insulation, moisture problems and years of mismanagement led to a dilapidated state. The building has been empty since 2008. Demolition no longer seems to be avoidable (last updated on July 31, 2024).
