Levelled park and shopping arcade connecting to the underground station and surrounding pedestrian (South), commercial (North), residential (West) and recreative (East) areas. Special thanks to Tobias Flessenkemper
The square is characterized by its striking polygonal shapes and the central kinetic water sculpture by Wolfgang Göddertz. Ebertplatz is laid out below street level and features many hexagonal honeycomb elements typical of the Brutalist era.

Since the early 2000s, there have been repeated discussions about a long-term redesign of Cologne's Ebertplatz, which could also mean the demolition of the brutalist square design. So far, however, none of the proposed concepts have been realized. The future depends on further modernization decisions.Â
Classification as a monument was rejected in June 2018 (last updated on November 22, 2024).
