Walter Weberhofer: Germania Club, ?–1977

  • Austrian architect Walter Weberhofer built the Germania Club in Lima in the 1960s as a social and cultural center for the city's German community. For that, he used mainly simple, unadorned materials such as concrete and glass, and created a wide range of oblique forms such as ramps, sloping roofs, and beveled building elements. The building is located on a steeply sloping site, and the design of the building takes advantage of this by including terraces and outdoor areas that offer stunning views of the city and surrounding landscape. The terraces of the building are planted with trees and other plants, which helps to integrate the building into its natural surroundings.
