The Cameron Offices were planned at a time when the focus of urban planning was on expanding suburbs. The most characteristic façade element: the pillars that are placed on the outside to enable interiors free of supports.

In the 1980s, the roof-top gardens were removed as the roof sealant was leaking. Six of the original nine wings were torn down after much debate in 2006–2008. Despite applications, no binding heritage listing issued. The remaining wings were then renovated. Original use as government offices; today mixed use by government agencies and as a student hall of residence.
