The cemetery is far too refined, indeed almost mannerist, to count as an example of brutalism. We have included it anyway to emphasize the immense fascination that the sculptural treatment of concrete had at the time.
The cemetery is not meant to be a memorial of transience: As garden it should symbolize more a life after the death. The garden is framed by a pyramidal ascending wall, has water basins, a meditation pavillon, water channels leading through the area and a big meadow with concrete sculptures. Besides of the family grave of the Brions the architect has also found his last resting place in this garden. (Special thanks to Dr. Annegret Winter for the hint!)
