The Hotel Zlatibor in Užice, Serbia, is a massive, sculptural building with a striking, staggered façade made of exposed concrete. The dynamic design of the building, which resembles a rocket, is reminiscent of futuristic architecture.
-
After the Breakup of Yugoslavia the Hotel decayed in the 1990s. In 2007 a new owner renovated a few floors, which are still being operated as a hotel. Other parts of the building are still deserted and decaying.Â
This building was included in the red list, published in our exhibition catalog SOS Brutalism: A Global Survey (September 2017). After a status review on November 12, 2024, it is still classified as red (endangered) in the online database.
