Sculpture or parking garage?  The parking bays protrude from the façade like balconies. The individual bays are formed by outwardly curved structural concrete slabs and straight glass panes. Diagonal grooves form the structure of the concrete and reinforce the direction in which the bulge points. Bright vertical steel beams stabilize the structure.  On the other side of the parking garage, the individual levels curve outwards in steps. Typical for Brutalism: a basic construction that can be read from the outside.

Heritage protected.
After the Lower Saxony Chamber of Architects named the Parking Garage on a list of buildings worthy of protection published in 2007, the Lower Saxony State Office for Preservation of Monuments examined the case and actually listed the building. The reason given for the parking garage's status as a monument was its significance for the history of urban development in Hanover and its architectural-historical importance as an example of Brutalism in the region (last updated on September 27, 2024).
