Staatliches Hochbauamt Pforzheim (Bernhard Dengler): Kurmittelhaus Eberhardsbad, 1970C–1977

  • Bad Wildbad, Germany, Show on map
  • #REC #Western Europe
  • This seven-storey building is located on a slope next to the old "Graf-Eberhard-Bad", a spa built in the 19th century (today: Palais Thermal). Designed as a unit, the Kurmittelhaus completed the spa by offering room for various treatments, e.g. fango pack, massage and rehab. The construction of the complex took a long time and required a huge budget (five million DM). Some of the remarkable architectonical details are the wood-panelled ceilings (a reminiscence of the Black Forest) as well as remnants of the torn down Katharinenstift (a hospital), which had occupied the place where the Kurmittelhaus was built. • The building is currently largely vacant and in need of renovation. Demolition has been discussed for a long time, but is difficult because the building holds the slope to some extent. A partner is currently being sought to find a new use for the building. At the moment, however, neither demolition nor preservation of the building is certain (last updated on January 21, 2025).
