  • Campbell Park building houses the headquarters of the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Department of Defence. All concrete surfaces are cast in place, columns and the underside of the floors smooth finished, while all other surfaces are vertically ribbed and bush hammered, achieved by placing vertical timber rods in the formwork, resulting in semi-circular grooves and protruding nibs, which were then hammered vertically, resulting in a pattern that combines ancient building material and patient handiwork. It was the largest example of this technique in Australia at the time.

  • In use.
