Innovative, automobile- centered shopping mall from the 1960s.

The building was constructed in 1965 by Macy's and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Originally, the building was to be completely circular and replace several apartment blocks. As a local resident did not want to sell her detached house, the shopping center was redesigned with a small cut-out at one corner to make use of the airspace on the plot in question.
